As we continue our look back at the year that was in 2024, we go out to Osage County and talk about what the Barnsdall Panther football team was able to accomplish following a difficult end to the 2023 school year.

On May 6th, an EF-4 tornado ripped through town, ripping apart houses and changing lives forever. For the Barnsdall football team, spring practice was canceled and summer conditioning took a new look. On top of that, the team learned they would be re-joining the 11-man ranks this year after spending the last four years playing 8-man ball.

Despite the difficult times the players faced, they made it back to the playoffs for an eighth consecutive season. In a 30-20 first round loss to Talihina, the Panthers gave the Class A-I state runner up all it wanted. Barnsdall Coach Kylee Sweeney said getting healthy at the right time was important to their success, but credited the team's work ethic for getting as far as they did.

There were several seniors on the Panther roster who contributed and made 2024 as successful as it was. Sweeney credits the likes of Maverick Lamphear, Easton Malone and Henry Easley for guiding the younger players through the rough patches.

Barnsdall will look to build off the 6-5 season in 2025.
