Huskies Split with Keys to Wrap Up Fall Semester
It was two well played games for Pawhuska on Friday night, as the Huskies traveled to take on Keys in day two of the Tahlequah Festival. It was the boys coming away victorious, 54-38, while the Lady Huskies fell, 53-51.
The guys bounced back in impressive fashion after a tough loss on Thursday. It was a bit of a slow start as Keys led 20-19 at halftime, but this rebound and look ahead to Dax Godsey gave Pawhuska a five point lead midway through the third quarter.
Pawhuska led by ten with just under seven minutes remaining in the game, but this sequence all but put the game out of reach.
As Pawhuska went on to get the 16-point win, it was Godsey leading the way in points.
On the girls side, Pawhuska led for a vast majority of the game before seeing a lead slip away late. The Lady Huskies had a 33-24 lead at halftime and took a six-point edge into the fourth quarter, but clutch shooting from the Lady Cougars down the stretch enabled Keys to complete the comeback.
In what was an oddly officiated basketball game, Hannah Reynolds made this three-pointer with just under three minutes remaining to give Pawhuska a 47-45 lead. As it appeared as though a Keys defender made contact with Reynolds on the shot, she could have had a chance to convert a four-point play.
The loss gives Pawhuska its first loss of the year. The Lady Huskies are now 6-1 heading into winter break. Both Pawhuska teams are back in action for a home game against Glenpool on Friday, January 3rd.
