Nowata comes back to top Dewey in rivalry showdown

Nowata hosted rival Dewey in a pair of basketball contests, with coverage of the boys game on KRIG 104.9.
In the girls game, it was a defensive game early as Nowata took a 16-4 lead into halftime, but they outscored Dewey 21-7 in the third quarter to pull away,
That gave Dewey the five point lead at halftime. However, Nowata responded in the second half by shutting down Dewey's offense, then got this shot from a senior leader to help take command.
Dewey went on one last run to get within two possessions late, but Nowata got some plays down the stretch to get the win. Here is how the final seconds sounded on KRIG.
Nowata 56-45 the final, as Nowata improved to 1-0 while Dewey drops to 1-1. Nowata traveles to Afton this afternoon. while Dewey will play in the Adair tournament on Monday.
