Edmond North Beats Basketball Bruins
It was a tough night on Tuesday for Bartlesville High basketball, as the Bruins and Lady Bruins both fell in double-digit defeats to begin District play on the road against Edmond North.
Let’s start on the girl’s side, where the Lady Bruins battled last year’s state-runners up but fell behind in the second half.
Edmond North beat BHS, 70-37.
Turnovers, particularly in the third quarter, put Bartlesville behind the eight-ball. The Lady Bruins were only down by eight at halftime and were within single digits for the entirety for the first 16 minutes.
Sami Sheaffer again led the way with 12 points. She had foul trouble early in the game, which also hampered Bartlesville’s offense.
On the guy’s side, the Huskies slowly pulled away for a 60-32 win.
Bartlesville stayed within 20 for most of the contest but could not get enough done offensively to put major pressure on Edmond North.
When the Bruins did make a shot, their full court press created some offensive opportunities.
Nash Zervas had a good game, the only BHS senior played point guard for most of the contest. He had a team-high 10 points and dished out several assists, like this one to Jordan Turner.
Both Bartlesville teams drop to 1-1 overall and now 0-1 in District play.
Neither team plays on Friday and will next be back at home against Sand Springs for a Frontier Valley Conference and District double-header this coming Tuesday.
