Bartlesville Hoops Travels to Edmond North
Bartlesville High basketball will take its show on the road on Tuesday evening, as BHS takes one of its longer road trips of the year at Edmond North.
Both Bartlesville teams are 1-0 after relatively easy wins over Ponca City at Bruin Field House about a week and a half ago. Now they have had a handful of practices to refine things before the District opener against the Huskies this evening.
For the Bruin guys it was a big win for many reasons. The Bruins only won three games a year ago, so a 1-0 start should grab the attention of a new crop of varsity players under first year head coach Tommy DeSalme.
Bartlesville played 13 guys in the first half against the Wildcats. That depth and energy helped build a 20-point lead. However, when the game tightened down the stretch, DeSalme shortened his bench.
Trea Collins and Nash Zervas are two guards who have experience from last year. Freshman Michael Kent who was fresh out of football also expects to get major time at the lead guard spot.
DeSalme talks about ball handlers for the Bruins.
Meanwhile on the girl’s side it was a blowout win for Bartlesville, 70-32 over Ponca. Head coach Justyn Shaw says his team has had the right mindset early this season.
Neither Edmond North team has played a game yet this season. A 6:30 tip for the girls. Guys to follow around 8:00 on KWON with video coverage on KWONTV.com.
