Husky Defense Coming on Strong at Right Time
The Pawhuska Huskies made it look easy on Friday night, as they rolled over the Hartshorne Miners to advance to the quarterfinals of the Class A-1 playoffs. The Huskies scored 30 points in the second quarter and cruised to a 44-7 win.
Coach Matt Hennesy said offensively, they were able to wear Hartshorne down as the game went along in the first half, but the real difference maker was the defense. Hennesy said the defense has had more personal foul penalties than usual, but it is because they have been flying to the football over the last month of the season.
On the offensive side of the ball, Hennesy said it is important for the Huskies to be efficient. He said they couldn't have done much better in the win on Friday.
Pawhuska is the lone team standing across the listening area. Friday night, Pawhuska travels to the Oklahoma City metro area to take on Christian Heritage Academy. Pregame coverage will start at 6:30 p.m. on 99.1 FM KPGM and KPGMTV.com. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
