Nowata looks for a playoff solidifying win over rival OKU
A game with major post-season implications Friday is Nowata hosting rival Oklahoma Union for the first time since 2021, on KRIG.
Nowata started 0-4 overall and at 3-5 overall has won three of their last four Class A-1 District District 3 games coming into tonight's showdown with OKU. The Ironmen gave district leading Pawnee their closest district game last week in a 26-6 loss, holding a Pawnee team averaging almost 60 points a game in their last four games to 26.
Nowata Head Coach Chance Juby says that while last week was the best his team has played in a loss, this week will be a playoff type atmosphere against OKU.
OKU provides a stiff challenge as the Cougars have three of their four district losses under 11 points. Juby says he has a lot of respect for Coach Trammell and his team.
Nowata will host OKU Friday at 7 with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 on KRIG and krigtv.com.
