Red Flag Warning Issued for Thursday
Nathan Thompson
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Oklahoma listening area from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday.
A Red Flag Warning means that a dangerous combination of weather conditions and dry vegetation is expected, favoring rapid growth and spread of any wildfires.
South winds sustained at 15 to 25 miles-per-hour with gusts to around 35 miles-per-hour will combine with extremely low humidity levels and high temperatures will raise the fire risk on Thursday.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
As a reminder, all Oklahoma counties within the listening area – except Osage County – are under a burn ban.
