For the first time since 2010, Bartlesville High fast pitch softball is headed to the 6A State Tournament.

The Bruins swept through their Regional in Ponca City. BHS needed only one game to dispatch of Edmond North on Thursday to advance to State. Bartlesville topped the Huskies, 6-1.

The Bruins got 11 hits, with four Lady Bruins getting two hits apiece. Savannah Alden and Lexi Durao both hit home runs in the win.

BHS was down 1-0 after two frames but tacked on six-unanswered from that point on, including three in the fourth and two more in the seventh for insurance.

Again, pitching led the way for Bartlesville. Over three games and three wins Bruin pitchers allowed just three runs over 21 innings with 21 strikeouts, two walks and 11 hits.

Head coach Kyle Minton mentioned before the event that his pitching was fresh heading into the postseason.

The state berth for fast pitch this fall comes on the heels of slow pitch making state this past spring.

The bracket and pairings are yet to be announced, with the tournament beginning on Thursday, Oct. 17 from Devon Park in OKC.
