Nowata football continued to roll last night as the Ironmen won their 2nd straight game as they used a dominant second half to pull away from Quapay 42-8.

Nowata and Quapaw were in a chess match early where neither team could get going offensively, going into the 2nd quarter 0-0. The 2nd frame had 30 points as Nowata used two rushing touchdowns from three and four yards out from senior quarterback Trevor Emberson to take a 14-0 lead with 50 seconds left until halftime.

With 32 seconds left in the 2nd, Quapaw scored a Marshawn Lynch type 60 yard touchdown run after Wildcats running back Caiden Porter broke at least 6 Nowata tackles to find the endzone.

Nowata though answered with a deep pass from Emberson to Sebastien Brown to set up this score from lineman Jerome Jackson.

Nowata took a 22-8 halftime lead and never looked back, outscoring Quapaw 20-0 in the 2nd half.

Tyler Flower had two second half touchdowns including this one to help Nowata pull away.

The win for Nowata was their first at home this season and improves their District record to 2-0 and 2-4 overall. The Ironmen next host Tonkawa next Friday.
