Collinsville Spoils BHS FB Home Opener

Bartlesville High football again had its moments, but turnovers in the second half cost BHS a chance to knock off Collinsville in the Bruin's home opener.

BHS fell to the Cardinals, 37-23.

It was four turnovers in the second half, including three interceptions, that burned the Bruins. Bartlesville twice had the ball down seven points in the third quarter. But a turnover on downs in Cardinal territory and a fumble inside its own 20 would put the Cards in control.

Bartlesville got great plays from some unsung heroes early. After allowing a quick 39-yard Cardinal touchdown on Collinsville's second drive, Stefen Williams took the ensuing kickoff to the house.

Bartlesville would tack on scores from Daeton Stevens and Damien Niko in the fourth quarter, but the game was mostly decided.

This screen pass to Stevens gave the Bruins some hope midway through the fourth.

Stevens had a scary injury moments later, getting carted off the field after an apparent neck injury and leaving in an ambulance. Reports were good after the game.

BHS drops to 0-3 and next plays at Sand Springs to begin District play.
