This weekend, September 21-22, 2024, aviation enthusiasts and history buffs will gather at the Bartlesville Municipal Airport for the highly anticipated 2024 Back to Bartlesville Regional Fly-In. Located at 401 NW Wiley Post Rd, this airport has a rich aviation heritage, once serving as the home of the National Biplane Association and the Tulsa Regional Fly-In.

Appearing on CITY MATTERS, City Manager Mike Bailey said, "This two-day event, running from 8 a.m. each day, promises a packed schedule of aerial displays, vintage aircraft exhibitions, and opportunities to honor WWII veterans. Whether you are a seasoned pilot, aviation hobbyist, or simply looking for a unique weekend outing, the Fly-In offers something for everyone."

Aviation Highlights: Attendees can expect a stunning showcase of privately-owned aircraft from across the country, with many of these flying machines both in the sky and parked on the airfield for closer viewing. Notable appearances include the Airborne Demonstration Team's C-49 "Wild Kat," the AT-6G "Nella" from the WASP Squadron, and the iconic PT-13 and PT-17 Stearman biplanes. The Tulsa Warbirds and Van's RV Formation Team will also put on a thrilling display of aviation prowess. Additionally, a variety of antique, classic, and rare general aviation aircraft will be showcased, with the historic Bellanca Aircraft being one of the highlights.

Admission is only $10 per carload.

Vendor Booths and Community Engagement: In addition to the aviation excitement, the event will feature a wide variety of merchandise and vendor booths, making it a great opportunity to support local businesses and aviation-related merchandise. Attendees are encouraged to explore the booths and connect with the aviation community.

For those interested in deeper involvement, the organizers are calling for volunteers and vendors. Registration information can be found on the event’s website, with inquiries directed to 918-269-3361.

A Tribute to WWII Veterans: This year’s Fly-In will take on special significance as it pays tribute to WWII veterans. The event will offer a chance to reflect on the contributions of these heroes and celebrate the aviation advancements that played a critical role during the war.

Organized by the Bartlesville Community Foundation and the Charles W. Harris Foundation, the event aims to bring the local community together while celebrating Bartlesville’s deep-rooted connection to aviation.
