Running Backs Star at Bruin Scrimmage

It is game week for most every high school football team across our area, as most teams will kick things off on Friday for Zero Week action prior to Labor Day.

This means most clubs had their one scrimmage of the preseason late last week.

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins tied Bishop Kelley 7-7 in a scrimmage against the Comets at Custer Stadium on Friday night. Several different Bruins had good moments. Both Sutton Williams and Archer Swisher did well at the running back position.

Helping that Bruin running attack was a solid performance from the big guys up front. The Bartlesville offensive line will have three newcomers this season.

Head coach Harry Wright says JR Earnhart will be the main guy at center.

Another positive for BHS in the scrimmage - The defense. The Bruins tackled well and allowed only one Bishop Kelley touchdown on a short field.

Wright will serve as the defensive play caller, as well as head coach, this fall. A duty he is used to, as he was the DC at Bentonville West in Arkansas prior to becoming Bartlesville’s skipper.

Wright says not a lot will change from the past couple of years.

Bartlesville is the one of a couple teams close to us to kick off the season on Thursday night. BHS travels to the OKC metro to take on Newcastle. We will have that game on Thursday night on KWON & KWONTV.com. A 7:00 kick and 6:30 pregame.

Don’t forget on Wednesday night we will have our first Harry Wright Show of the season, every Wednesday at 6:00 from Dink’s Pitt BBQ also on KWON & KWONTV.com.
