Bartlesville High boys’ basketball offseason is rolling along.

The Bruins restarted some summer workouts earlier this week after a couple weeks off around the mandatory OSSAA dead period.

The Bruins went through a varsity team camp, workouts and then a team camp in Pryor with first year head coach Tommy DeSalme. DeSalme really started the job in May and mentioned how vital June would be for him and the program.

DeSalme says everything with coaching high school guys is still new after more than two decades in college basketball, but says it has been great so far.

DeSalme mentioned a lot of younger guys as some standouts. He says the incoming freshman class and next year’s sophomores make up most of the numbers.

As far as big picture stuff, DeSalme says he is going to try to tap the community for support, because that is what the Bruins will need to be successful.

We will have more with DeSalme from this interview over the next several weeks on BartlesvilleRadio.com.
