In a weird twist, the Doenges Ford Indians ended their second straight game with a tie on Thursday night.

Bartlesville had to rally to tie its contest in the bottom of the seventh against Springfield Kickapoo in its opening game of the 65th Glen Winget Tournament.

A wild pitch with the bases loaded made it 1-1 in the seventh.

It was a thriller and well-played game, but neither team could come through with multiple chances to take control of the contest.

Grant Clark went seven innings on the mound for B’Ville and allowed only one run and five hits. Another sparkling outing for the former Bruin who has been the Indian’s best pitcher this summer.

The Tribe was down 1-0 in the sixth when Kickapoo had two on and one out - Clark got a big strikeout to keep the Indian’s deficit at one.

Clark also stranded the bases loaded in the top of the seventh. He walked six and struck out seven in 125 gutsy pitches in the start.

Meanwhile on offense, Bartlesville had solid swings all night, but nothing to show for it until the seventh. The Indians were down to their final strike three times, but with two outs and the bases empty the Tribe promptly came up with three straight singles from Kael Siemers, Luke Fox and Brenden Asher.

This wild pitch would score the Indians only run of the game.

A ground out from Eric Olenburger later in the at bat would end the seventh inning, and with the game over its two-hour time limit, it would end in a 1-1 tie.

Asher finished with three hits while Fox added in two more. Bartlesville out-hit Springfield 7-5.

Bartlesville will likely have to win on Friday and Saturday to have a good chance at making the semifinals of the Winget for the third straight year.

An 8:00 first pitch against Greenwood, Arkansas in another game we will carry on KWON and KWONTV.com this evening.
