Thanks to a $23,250 grant from Phillips 66, the Bartlesville Police Department will have the ability to patrol more of the City. The BPD recently launched a Park Police Unit, which will aim to keep public parks and recreational areas safe. This is a newly formed group that will patrol these areas throughout the day seven days a week and will work closely with community leaders in an effort to lower crime.

Here is Bartlesville Police Chief Kevin Ickleberry on the new unit:

“Their presence will be a vital part of the city's ongoing commitment to promoting a welcoming and secure atmosphere for families, tourists and local residents alike.”

In addition to the Parks Unit, the police department has also added four new Trek Police Service bicycles. Those will be utilized in parks, along Pathfinder and in the downtown area. The Bartlesville Police Department hopes to hold special events with the bike unit, including safety gear giveaways and community bike rides.
