On Tuesday's CITY MATTERS episode on KWON, Ward 4 City Councilor Quinn Schipper joined us to discuss highlights from Monday's city council meeting.

Schipper fondly remembered Billie Roane, who unexpectedly passed away in April, noting her significant impact as Ward 4 Councilor. The Bartlesville City Council approved the naming of Roane Road in the Oak Wood Addition at the northern edge of Oak Park in her honor.

Arcadian Housing is currently developing infrastructure for over 100 single-family residences, extending Oak Park Road to the north with a second access off Virginia. A portion of this extension will now bear the name Billie Roane Road, marking the northernmost street in Bartlesville.

Another project close to Roane's heart, the Veterans’ Memorial at Veteran’s Park, honors the city's military heroes. Schipper highlighted the installation of seven flagpoles, including those for the American flag, POW/MIA flag, and flags representing each military branch, scheduled to be raised by July 4th. Final touches are underway with a dedication planned for this fall.

Schipper also discussed developments at Adams Municipal Golf Course, where longtime Golf Pro Jerry Benedict will retire in mid-August after 38 years. The City Council approved a firm to conduct a comprehensive strategic review of the golf course and appointed Jason Dochney as interim leadership.

In other news, Buffalo Roam Studios is set to finalize its acquisition of the First Christian Church building this month, following eight months of preparation. Schipper teased upcoming details about plans for a world-class sound stage and film academy.

Finally, the City Council approved an agreement for biannual “Wellness Visits” for police officers, first responders, 911 dispatchers, and peer support team members during Monday’s session.
