Representatives Judd Strom and John B. Kane appeared on CAPITOL CALL Powered by Phillips 66 on Friday to recap the recently ended state legislative session.

Representative Strom said that this session went far more smoothly than any other in his time at the capitol. However, both said that it will take a few days to digest it all.

They agreed on was that the $12.47 billion budget is a decrease from last year's budget. Strom said the legislature allocated $240 million to develop new engineering and science facilities at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. Kane said that this investment will enhance access to STEM education and address the need for skilled professionals in Oklahoma's workforce.

The legilators also talked about how the body allocated $350 million for the new Oklahoma Capital Assets Maintenance and Protection Fund to cover deferred maintenance at state properties, state parks, and public colleges and universities.
