Resilient.  That's the only word that comes to mind to describe the graduating seniors of Barnsdall High School, their families, their friends, their teachers and administrators at Friday night's graduation exercises at the Center Auditorium in Bartlesville.

A very large crowd attended the event. Bartlesville Radio was there as were a few television stations and newpapers. The fact that this graduation took place at all is part of the reliency this community has shown over the past several weeks as a pair of tornadoes ripped through the town just weeks apart recently.

Barnsdall School Counselor Brandi Williams said, "The kids have earned It. Yes, it has been surreal, the reaction from the kids,  the resilence of the kids--I'm glad they get some closure for their senior year."

Barnsdall Mayor Johny Kelley, "It's been a rough ride, but we're tough people, bit we'll always continue to  get up and move forward  and give our kids the best graduation that we can."

Barnsdall High School Valedictorian Emyleigh Von Walling summed it up nicely in her sppech, "I would like to give a shout out to these extremely tough and determined people of Barnsdall. The unthinkable has happened over the past few weeks in a small town that so many of us call home. I want to thank all the people that are always ready to help with whatever you need: The amazing staff and admistration, such as  Dr. Bryant for all they have meant for me. None of this would possible tonight without our amazing  Mayor Johnny Kelley who has truly gone above and beyond for out little town so many times."

The graduation was broadcast on AM 1500/FM99.1 KPGM sponsored by  Barnsdall Nursing Home and Holden's Septic Services. You can download the podcast from your favorite source or click to listen below.
