Indians Tryouts on Thursday

Thursday is the day, somewhat weather pending, for the 84th edition of the Doenges Ford Indians tryouts.

Any 19-and-under baseball player within shouting distance who would like to play baseball in Bartlesville this summer is invited to attend. Bartlesville is coming of a season where it just finished below .500.

The Indians reportedly will have numerous returning starters off that team coming back, but there will be a much better sense of the roster following the tryouts on Thursday evening.

Manager John Pannell is back for his 15th season leading the group. He talks about what excites him about being with the Indians again this summer.

Although most players come from this part of Oklahoma or Kansas, occasionally a player from further away will join the club.

Matthew Winters out of Glenpool has been a big part of the Indian’s pitching staff the past few years. According to Pannell, Winters credits the Indians with some of the most fun he has had playing baseball.

Pannell talks about the benefits of trying out and playing with the Tribe this summer.

A 7:00 start time from Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium on Thursday night. Check the Indian’s Facebook for information if something gets moved due to rain.

All the Indians games this summer will air on KWON and KWONTV.com. The games should begin in just over a week at Rigdon Field.
