Wednesday Severe Weather Threat Increases to 'Slight' Category

The possibility of severe weather Wednesday night in Osage and Washington counties in Oklahoma and western Nowata County has increased. Risk levels for Chautauqua and Montgomery counties in Kansas have also increased.
 
According to the National Weather Service, the threat level has increased from a marginal risk to a slight risk (Level 2 of 5). Chances for a few severe thunderstorms will come Wednesday evening and night across portions of northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas, with slightly better chances northwest of I-44.
 
The weather service says a few storms will be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds, along with locally heavy rainfall.
 
As of Tuesday afternoon, the severe risk for eastern Nowata County remains in the marginal risk category (Level 1 of 5).
