Day one of high school basketball tournament action across the area on Thursday night, with a couple more on tap Friday and Saturday.

Bartlesville boys fell at Union, 70-29. Bruins move to the consolation bracket of the Jenks-Union Invitational with another late game at the UMAC on Friday night.

BHS hung with the Redhawks for a while. Bartlesville got some big-time shots from Jacob Veit and Nash Zervas in the first 10 minutes of the contest to keep pace.

This one from Zervas kept BHS in the game late in the first quarter.

However, Bartlesville would turn cold shooting the ball. After scoring 17 points in the first 10.5 minutes, Bartlesville would score only 12 in the final 22 minutes of the contest.

Veit led the way for the Bruins with 15.

BHS drops to 2-10 and will face Ray-Pec, a prep school out of Missouri, Friday night at 8:30 on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.

Bartlesville girls are 1-0 in their tournament in Frontenac, KS. Bruins beat Seneca, Missouri on Thursday, 61-26.

BHS girls face Blue Springs, Missouri in the semifinals of the Four State Classic on Friday night at 7:00.
