It has been a couple months since former Bartlesville Examiner Enterprise Sports Editor Mike Tupa officially announced he was stepping away from the paper.

Tupa, who is a Bartlesville Sports Hall of Famer, spent nearly 28 years as the EE’s sports editor.

KWON got a chance to catch up with Tupa to talk about his time in Bartlesville and some of his favorite moments during his career.

Tupa talks about what the past few weeks have been like as he transitions into taking permanent time off from working.

Tupa has endeared himself to Bartians and sports fans throughout the region thanks to his positive writing style and commitment to area athletes. This combination will ensure he is remembered as a staunch supporter of local athletics.

Tupa talks about what made working in Bartlesville special.

Mike won numerous statewide writing awards during his career and will continue to write some. As far as memories go for Tupa’s time here, he said many things stand out.

Tupa spent a long portion of time talking about Bartlesville High Bruin football, and the figures and plays that defined that program over the past 30 years.

He mentioned Bartlesville’s win at Bixby in 2015, among other things.
