Ironmen Complete Sweep over Southtown
The Nowata Ironmen hosted a mid-week non-conference matchup Thursday night as they played host to the South Coffeyville Lions. We’ll start with the girls as it was the more dramatic of the two. The lady Ironmen and lady Lions battled early, but Nowata took a 9-point halftime lead.
The Lions came close multiple times but could never get closer than four-down, as the lady Ironmen held on to win 54-44. Now to the guys side of things. Nowata would make easy work of the Lions, winning 82-18. This one would be decided in the first quarter with Nowata leading 33-7 after one.
Kaleb Bashford again filled up the stat sheet, scoring 21-points in the first half to lead all scorers. Nowata would lead 56-11 after two. The big score differential lead to some other guys getting some more play time, including the freshman sixth man Adrian O’dell who poured in a career high of 10-points. These back-to-back three's got him into double-figures for the first time this season.
Four Ironmen would score in double-figures as they grabbed the huge win. Clint Harrington had a career high of 10-points which was good enough to earn our Patriot Player of the Game honors.
Here is Ironmen Head Coach Derick Ott on the win.
Both Ironmen squads are now 6-7 as they look to a homecoming matchup with the winless OKU Cougars on Friday. Guys tip first at 6:30 with coverage on KRIG 104.9 FM and video coverage on KRIGTV.com
