Churches United for Community Concern will have a boost in funding thanks to a $3,500 donation from the Arvest Foundation.

Arvest branch manager Tanya Stokes presented the check to Concern Executive Director Peggy Crowder. The funds will be used to fund the food pantry as well as help with the organization’s financial assistance programs.

“We are honored to present this check on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to help those in our community with immediate food needs as well as emergency financial support,” Stokes said.

Founded in 1967 by 17 area churches of various denominations coming together in a coordinated response to alleviate poverty, Concern still works toward that goal today. Its mission is to provide compassionate support to individuals and families needing assistance.

“Concern appreciates the continued support from the Arvest Foundation,” Crowder said. “This financial donation ensures Washington County individuals and families receive food and financial assistance services that are greatly needed. In 2023, we have seen new applicants increase over 30%. This donation will provide food for over 1,000 people or just over 400 families.”
