Osage County Sheriff Eddie Virden held a press conference on Tuesday in response to comments made by District Attorney Mike Fisher on Monday. At that news conference, Virden made it clear that he believed Dennis Rader, otherwise known as BTK, was still the prime suspect in the disappearance of Cynthia Dawn Kinney and that comments made by Fisher on Monday had hurt his investigation, as Virden was speaking with Rader on Monday and after watching the news at noon, Rader told Virden that it didn’t look he had a suspect anymore.

Virden also said that he had spoken to a few different people who had survived an attack from Rader, but after hearing of Fisher’s news conference yesterday, one of them had chosen to quit speaking.

Because of the actions that Fisher took yesterday and a few other decisions that he had made in the past, Virden will be reaching out to the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office and says he hopes these things will be dealt with through Title 22.

Fisher was in attendance, standing and staring down Virden for the 45 minute-long news conference. Fisher gave a statement and fielded questions himself. In response to the possibility of Governor Kevin Stitt or Attorney General Gentner Drummond digging into Fisher’s handling of the matter, here is what he had to say.

In closing, Fisher said it is important for the sheriff’s office to work in coordination with the OSBI so that they can finally give the Kinney family some peace.

Virden said there is more information he will release at the appropriate time.
