High school football season is here, and officials with Bartlesville Public Schools say additional security protocols have been put in place at Custer Stadium.

The district says that backpacks and other large bags will not be allowed at school activities and athletic events. They say any bags brought to an event are subject to search.

There will also be an increased police presence at the Bruins' first home varsity football game against the Claremore Zebras on Friday at 7 p.m. at Custer Stadium.

The district says the enhanced security procedures are in place after a tragic shooting during a Choctaw-Del City football game last week, a gun being brought to a game at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa and other threats that have recently occurred at Tulsa Union Public Schools.

The Caney Valley School District has also said that children who are in the seventh grade or younger must be accompanied by an adult when entering the stadium. Additionally, all students must be in the stands, either with parents or in the student section. There will be no re-entry once you have been admitted into the game as well.
