Federal Charges Filed Against Two Local Residents

U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson recently announced the results of the August Federal Grand Jury, resulting in charges being filed against two defendants from Skiatook and Delaware.
Michael Robert Brown, 32, a Cherokee citizen from Skiatook, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to cause bodily harm in Indian Country. Brown allegedly stabbed the victim in the head with a pair of scissors during a domestic dispute. Skiatook Police Department and the FBI are investigating the case.
Steven Lee Hindman, 57, a Cherokee Nation citizen from Delaware in Nowata County, is charged with two counts of assault with intent to commit murder in Indian Country; two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm in Indian Country; carrying, using, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence; and for being a felon in possession of ammunition. The Nowata County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the case.
The cases will be handled in U.S. Federal Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma, located in Tulsa.
