High School football is closer than you think, as practices across the area will begin in about six weeks.

We are a bit more than a week away from the mandatory OSSAA dead period, as well. Wesleyan Christian School is poised to have one of the best teams in Northeast Oklahoma this fall.

The Mustangs return every single player off a team that hosted two playoff games and made it into the second round of the Class C playoffs.

In addition to the vast numbers of returners, WCS will have several additions this fall. Head coach Curt Cloud says two sophomores this upcoming season will come back out for the team after they did not play during their freshman seasons.

Cloud says they should add some much-needed size in the trenches.

In addition to those two, a couple of move-ins and incoming freshman should push the Mustang’s roster to more than 20 for the first time in more than a decade.

Cloud says being able to rotate players in and out on the lines should make his team more multi-dimensional.

More on Wesleyan Christian School football and other area clubs as the offseason continues on.
