OU football fans going to officially get their first taste of SEC football on Wednesday night, as a major milestone in the Sooner’s conference switch is here.

Wednesday, at 6:00, Oklahoma will announce which SEC schools it will play during the 2024 conference season.

The Sooners are making a TV show out of the announcement, which will be broadcast on ESPN+ from 6-7. The press release says Athletic Director Joe Castiglione and head coach Brent Venables will both be on hand to give their thoughts the upcoming schedule.

The dates and order of opponents will be released at a much later date, but the first round of new rivalries will be known tonight. The 2024 season will not involve divisions, with the teams with the best two overall conference records earning a trip to Atlanta for the  2024 SEC Championship Game.

The schedule will also only inlcude eight conference games, as many thought the expansion of the conference might move the schedule to nine games. The SEC announced it would stick with eight games for conference play two weeks ago.
