We've reported a ton on the Oklahoma Sooners softball team recently that just captured their third straight national title in four years, and their sixth total in the last 10 years. Well, it was announced over the weekend by Joe Castiglione that Head Coach Patty Gasso will be receiving her own statue at the university.

Most feel that this is a long time coming for a coach that has brought nothing but success and triumph to the state and the University of Oklahoma. Gasso after finding out this news said that she was honored as she fought back tears.

Gasso becomes the first non-football sports figure to get a statue at the University, and probably one of the most deserving coaches to receive one. The skipper has been with OU for 29 years, in that time she was a record of 1,395-344 which is good for a .802 winning percentage to go along with seven national titles as well.
