Bruin Baseball Ends Season After Gritty Effort
Bartlesville High baseball barely ran out of steam, falling in the first Regional championship game late on Friday evening in Tulsa against Owasso.
Bartlesville beat Union 1-0 in the first game but fell to Owasso 4-3 in the nightcap. The 1-1 day ends the Bruin’s season at 23-15.
It was a tremendous day of baseball for Bartlesville. BHS took advantage of some opportunities presented to them.
In game one the Bruins scored a single run on a Redhawk error in the first inning, and that is all BHS would need. Asher threw seven innings of shutout baseball. Allowing only three hits against one of the top teams in the state to send Bartlesville to the title round.
Here is out the final out sounded on KPGM.
Bartlesville would need a win against Owasso in the night game to force a second Regional title game today. Unfortunately, the Rams would hold on for a one-run win. BHS again got an outstanding pitching outing – this time from Zeb Henry to keep BHS in it. Henry went the full seven innings in another compete game.
Down by three runs in the sixth, Owasso helped the Bruins out. A Ram error let Bartlesville draw closer.
BHS left the bases loaded in the sixth and had the game tying run in scoring position in the seventh. The big hit just evaded BHS.
This is the third straight season Bartlesville has won 23 games or more under Cody Price and the second season in the past three years the Bruins made the Regional title round.
