We had a full schedule of high school football this past Friday, but the game of the week probably took place this past Thursday.

If you missed it, Copan scored 42 points in the fourth quarter en route to a come-from-behind 54-36 victory at Watts.

Trailing 22-0 in the third quarter Copan started to come alive on offense. Hornets still trailed 28-12 at the start of the fourth, when they would score six touchdowns in just over 11-minutes of gameplay. Copan recovered two onside kicks in that span, scoring three of the touchdowns from the 6:19 to 4:21 mark of the final quarter.

Head coach Marshall Foreman says that is a victory that will stand out for years to come.

Weston O’Rourke was huge in the comeback. The freshman scored five of the six touchdowns in the final quarter. Three receptions from freshman Kane Foreman, and two more runs. He scored on touchdowns of 25, 23, 23, 30 and 15 yards. O’Rourke finished with 213 yards rushing, 92 yards receiving and six total scores on the night.

Foreman says his freshman are going to be special.

Copan is 4-4 and now 3-2 in District play. The Hornets will likely need to win just one of its next two games in-order to get into the playoffs of their own accord for the first time since the 2009 season.

Copan will host Coyle on Friday night for its final home game in 2022.
