The University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma both formally submitted requests to join the SEC on Tuesday – as the process for the Longhorns and Sooners to leave the Big 12 has continued at a fast pace.

Reports state that the SEC will vote on their inclusion on Thursday, while both OU and Texas have scheduled Board of Regent meetings on Friday.

After this week, the focus will shift to a timeline, when could the two schools leave the Big 12? The official application for membership to the SEC asks that it begin on July 1, 2025, but many in the industry think it will be much sooner than that.

Then what do the remaining eight schools in the conference do moving forward?
