Bartlesville tops Claremore: Bruins 1-0

Bartlesville High pulled away from Claremore to improve to 1-0 for the first time since 2018. The Bruins used two fourth quarter defensive touchdowns to top the Zebras 34-10.
A pick six from Rhett Foreman and a scoop and score from Rocky Shuman put the game on ice. BHS led 20-10 with Claremore driving before the two touchdowns put the game on ice.
The Bruins forced three turnovers on the night, as Devon Beck had an earlier interception, as well. Bartlesville’s defensive unit allowed just 235 yards on the evening.
BHS started off hot, with Caleb Perry scoring on a 47-yard touchdown score to put the Bruins up 7-0.
Perry would rack up 130 yards on five carries in the first half before being sidelined in the second.
Paxton Bradford had a good night at quarterback, the senior making his first start went 4-9 for 36 yards and one touchdown. He also had 58 yards on the ground with a score.
Bartlesville will next face Sapulpa in a non-district contest. The Chieftains dropped down to 5A for the next two years.
Sapulpa is 1-0 with a 61-14 win over Edison Prep on Friday night.
