Nowata Battles Metro for District Lead

The Nowata Ironmen are one of the surprise stories in 2019. Nowata has already clinched a playoff spot after winning its first four district games in a row after losing all three non-district games. Now, the Ironmen have a chance to show if they are a legitimate contender for the 2A-4 district title.
Nowata hosts undefeated Metro Christian on Friday, a team that has won every game this season by at least 20 points. The Patriots were a state semifinalist in 2018 and appear poised for a potential return.
A win for the Ironmen would require a great defensive effort. Nowata head coach Chris Messner talks about some players that have been part of that unit’s success.
The Ironmen are giving up 15 points per game in district play. The battle for first in the district will take at Ironmen Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. No radio for Nowata this week.
