Independence Community College has issued a statement regarding the situation between Head Football Coach Jason Brown and a German born player.

There was a fiery text exchange between the player, Alexandros Alexiou (a LEX ee oh) and Head Football Coach Jason Brown on social media.  In the exchange, Brown referred to the player as a German (expletive) and told him he, the coach, was his new Hitler.  Montgomery County Chronicle Editor Andy Taylor broke the story in this week's edition.

Alexiou tells our news partner, KGGF News he came to Independence to play football.

Alexiou says he thought that the Coach Brown he saw on Last Chance U was just an act but quickly found out that wasn't the case. He says after finding out he was getting close to being kicked off the team he looked for an explanation.

Alexiou says for now he is off the team but he does get to keep his scholarship although  Coach Brown threatened to take it away.

The Independence Community College Board of Trustees has met to discuss the situation and offer their input regarding the recent controversy. A statement from ICC says there are a number of elements the college must consider in the case, and the board expects a resolution within a few days. Until that time, the college has no further comment on the personnel matter.
