Trojans Looking For Consistency

The Caney Valley Trojans gutted out an 8-6 victory over Oklahoma Union last Friday to move to 1-1 on the season. Converted-quarterback Christian Colbert accounted for all eight points in the win with a five-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Colbert then added on the game-winning two-point conversion to knock out the Cougars.
Trojans head coach Stephen Mitchell was obviously happy with the defensive effort, but he would like to see more consistency and attention to detail from his offensive unit.
Mitchell’s keyword for week three is ‘execution’. The Trojans will have little room for error heading into their final non-district contest against Liberty this Friday.
Liberty, a class-A team, has struggled mightily this season, losing by a combined score of 100-6 in two games to start the season. However, coach Mitchell is not taking their passing attack lightly.
A stretch of three straight road games starts this Friday for the Trojans as they travel to Mounds to take on the Tigers.
