Maternal and Infant Clinic Funded in Independence
Diane Coston
Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas was forced to close it's doors on October 9 due to funding issues but efforts are being made to still provide medical services in the area. The Mercy Health Clinic, which provides family health care, is open for business due to the work of the City Health Care Committee.
Another service, facilitating the needs of uninsured or underinsured pregnant women, is expected to get started again very soon. The CRMC foundation was awarded a $31,000 grant from the KDHE Maternal and Child Health program. The organization should announce an opening day in the near future.
