In a rivalry game that turned out to be an absolute thriller, Oklahoma Union rallies from 20-8 down in the 4th quarter to stun Nowata 28-20. The Ironmen had a fast start taking a 14-0 lead on two touchdowns from Quarterback Treavor Emberson, a one yard run but this deep pass to Sophomore Asiah Saxton.

OKU answered with a fumble recovery for about 60-yards for Connor Pierce and he would later score from 1-yard out to cut the Ironmen lead to 14-6. In one of the most wildest plays of the year in the area, Keyshawn Verner scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery after officials spent several minutes in deliberation to make it 20-8 Nowata at halftime.
The 3rd quarter was scoreless but Connor Pierce gave OKU the lead for good on this run.

OKU would add another score in the final minute to make it 28-20 before one last gasp hail mary pass from Emberson as time expired fell incomplete to give Oklahoma Union the biggest win of their season.

The win for the Cougars kept their post-season hopes mathamatically alive at 2-4 in district play, while  Nowata fell to 3-3 in District play. OKU will need to upset Pawnee to have a shot at the playoffs while Nowata still has a strong shot at the post-season with a win over Tonkawa or Morrison loss versus Pawhuska next week.
