New Heat Regulations For Football

With temperatures in the 90s or even 100s as football practice begins statewide this week, there is a new OSSAA regulation that high schools will have to watch over the next few weeks.
The highest wet bulb temperature where practice is allowed outside has been lowered by the association. There are also cutoffs for when players are allowed to wear pads or pants when practicing.
At Bartlesville High, Bruin athletic trainer Alan Mount oversees keeping track of the measure, which is a combination of air temperature and humidity.
Bruin Athletic and Activities Director Thad Dilbeck talks about the new regulation.
Dilbeck added that thanks to the indoor practice facility on the south side of campus, the staff can move practice indoors if needed.
