Nowata boys’ basketball lost for the first time this season in Monday night's opening round of the Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament to Mannford, 57-54 in OT.

It was a back and forth battle that Nowata led early by as many as nine points, but Mannford was able to trim to just one possession.

This bucket at the first quarter buzzer from Talen Thompson helped keep Nowata on top.

In the second half, the Ironmen led by two in the final seconds, but Mannford forced overtime with a last second shot in the final seconds.

In OT, it went back and forth. This basket off a great effort on the offensive boards was a big one for the Ironmen. 

With the game tied, a game winning three-pointer by the Pirates at the buzzer gave Mannford their first win of the season, and Nowata their first loss.

The Ironmen fall to 2-1 and will play in the Consolation Semi-final round on Friday.
