Winter's Gaining Confidence as QB

High school football is about 10 days away from its unofficial start to the 2019 season.

KWON had a chance to speak with a few of the Bartlesville High football players on Saturday morning at the Bruin’s media day.

One of the guys we spoke to was quarterback Ben Winters.

Winters has been competing for his job as starting QB this preseason after having a great end to last year. Winters had a phenomenal end to the 2018 season, showing progress throughout his first season as a starter. Winters talks about gaining confidence.

Winters specifically mentioned the speed of the game slowing down, and not having to think quite as much the final few starts of the year. Head coach Jason Sport was in charge of the Bruin defense last year, but was also aware of Winter’s progression. He has credited some of his success to now BHS offensive coordinator Jason Munoz for coaching him along.

Bartlesville will have its first action against a different team this preseason on Friday, when it travels to Jenks for round robin play against other 6A clubs.

KWON will be on hand, and of course will have the play-by-play broadcast of every Bruin football game this fall on AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
