High school basketball is on a bit of a hiatus this week because of the upcoming holiday.

However teams without virus issues have already had nearly a third of their season, and one of the most impressive starts so far belongs to the Wesleyan Christian School boys.

The Mustangs are 5-1 thus far, with their only loss coming to the talented Oklahoma Union JV club. WCS has wins over Copan twice, Barnsdall, Welch and Claremore Christian. Scoring has been key for a younger club thus far, as Wesleyan is averaging 65.5 points per game.

Head coach Kameron Nettleton says he has been pleasantly surprised with his team’s offense thus far.

Kade Kelley and Clayton Holley have been the drivers of the Mustang offensive resurgence. Kelley is averaging just more than 20 points-per-game thus far, with Holley scoring at about 16 per-contest.

Nettleton says they both can beat opponents in a variety of different ways.

Wesleyan Christian has only one game at home under its belt so far, and will make up for than in January. WCS will play six in a row in Bartlesville to begin 2021, with its first contest against Wright Christian on Jan. 5.
