United Linen Braves Split Double-Header

We had more American Legion baseball in Bartlesville on Wednesday night, as the United Linen Braves begin their season at home against Ponca City.

The Braves split their double-header with the Wildcats, winning game one 9-1 in five innings, but losing in game two,7-4.

In the first game, Bartlesville squandered several opportunities to run-rule Ponca earlier than it did. The Braves left seven guys on base through the first four innings. It was Ransom Jones who finally punched a double down the line with two-outs in the fifth that gave Bartlesville the five-inning win,

In game two Ponca City would take a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never look back. Bartlesville’s Triple-A Legion team begins the season 1-1. The Braves will continue play this weekend.

Speaking of Legion baseball, the Doenges Ford Indians are right back at it on Thursday, Bartlesville begins play in the Branson Tournament in Central Missouri.

The Indians have two games schedule for day one of that event, a 9:00 AM first pitch against Kickapoo, then a 7:00 PM game against the Blazers.

The Indians are 6-2.
