A former Lady Bruin basketball player, and the winner of this year’s GAC Tournament in Bartlesville has made some waves on the national scene in the NCAA Division II Women’s Tournament.

The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Women topped Fort Hayes State 88-77 to capture a regional title and advance to the Elite Eight on Monday evening.

SWOSU won the GAC Tournament in Bartlesville on March 10 to capture an automatic bid into the tournament.

The win for the Lady Bulldogs is No. 33 in a row. Former Bartlesville standout Hailey Tucker was again instrumental in the win, Tucker had 14 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots in 37-minutes played. Tucker earned a spot on the all-tournament team for her effort. Two weeks ago when Tucker was played at home in Bruin Fieldhouse, she talked with KWON Sports about her team’s win streak.

The Elite Eight will be played in Columbus, Ohio. SWOSU will not know its next opponent until later on Tuesday.

This is the longest run in the NCAA Tournament for the Lady Bulldogs in program history.
