A big matchup is set to open the season for two area clubs as Caney Valley hosts Barnsdall. Yesterday we heard from the Panthers and today we will hear about the Trojans. Caney Valley is looking to build off a 2-8 season in 2018. Both the Trojans wins came in the non-district portion of the schedule last year. However, its lone non-district loss came at the hands of Barnsdall, 50-14 in a game that was never close. Fourth-year head coach Stephen Mitchell previews the matchup this year.

ns are still indecisive about who will be playing quarterback ahead of the opener. It will either be junior Seth Gilbreath or freshman Zak Wallis leading the offense. CV will still operate out of the spread and look to the throw the ball to a multitude of different receivers. However, coach Mitchell wants to put some power run looks in the offense as well.

The Trojans and Panthers open the season from Ramona at 7 p.m. on Friday.
