Tabor College Sweeps OKWU

It was a tough night for both OKWU Eagles and Lady Eagles as they took on Tabor College in Bartlesville on Thursday.  Lady Eagles lost their first home game to the Bluejays 111-82 while the Eagles fell short to Tabor College 89-86.

The women's game got off to a fast start for both teams as they exchanged baskets from one end to the floor to another.  Tabor College, ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II poll came in winning their last 13 games found a way to break OKWU's full court press.  Bluejays led 50-40 at halftime and outscored the Lady Eagles 61-40 in the second half to remain unbeaten in KCAC play.  OKWU's defense didn't show up along with poor three-point shooting going 5 for 20 for 20 percent.  Overall, the Lady Eagles shot 33 percent while Tabor College shot 61 percent.  Shelbie Kirby led the Lady Eagles with 15 points while Cheyenne Been added 14.  Susan Agesen finished with 12 points and Courtney Robinson added 11. Tabor College was led by Jurnee Reid with a game high 23 points. Lady Eagles fall to 16-10 overall and 10-6 in KCAC play.  

The men's game went back and forth.  The Eagles had a chance to send the game into overtime, but CJ Ross 3-pointer at the end of the game fell short and the seventh ranked Bluejays remain unbeaten in KCAC play.  The Eagles had a lead in the first half, but Tabor College battled back and led 41-35 at halftime.  The Eagles trailed by 13 early in the second half and led briefly before the Bluejays made their free throws down the stretch to survive and have now won nine straight games. Ryan Schuessler led the Eagles with 20 points and went 6 for 13 from the 3-point line.  Ross finished with 16 points while Jake Feickert added 12.  Tabor College was led by Lance Carter's 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Overall, the Eagles shot 42 percent from the field.  The loss drops OKWU's record to 11-14 overall and 6-10 in KCAC play.

Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles are off until next Thursday evening when they host McPherson College.  Ladies play at six while the Men play at 8 o'clock.
