Sports Look Forward to Summer Months

With no more spring sports across the state, eyes will soon start looking to the summer as the next possibility of some organized activities returning for athletics in the high school ranks.

The summer months are important ones for all sports, especially football. Almost all varsity teams throughout the tri-county area have been participating in seven-on-seven drills and other offseason activities to get ready for the fall camp, which begins in early August.

At Bartlesville High, head football coach Jason Sport wants to be prepared regardless of what happens. Sport says he will plan on having a normal summer, but will adjust if need be.

The OSSAA canceled the remainder of the spring sports last week, which left all coaches scrambling for off-season workout plans and other ideas to keep players sharp.

Sport has credited Bartlesville’s strength and conditioning coach Daniel West for being on top of sending material for student-athletes to work on.

We will have features on seniors who had their final years cut short over the next days and weeks as well.
