Scrimmages & Alumni Game For BHS Softball

Fall sports are literally just around the corner.

Bartlesville's softball team kicks off its season on Tuesday at Catoosa. The Lady Bruins have been practicing since late July and playing off-season ball for most of the summer.

Before they get to Catoosa, they will have a couple more scrimmages to get them ready for real action. The first of which is Thursday morning in Dewey. The activities will continue into the evening with an alumni game, the first ever for the program. That will take place at 7:00 in Dewey, too.

Lady Bruin head coach Craig Hampton talks about what Bartlesvlle has worked on over the past couple of weeks. Hampton says the Lady Bruins are going to be young and fast this upcoming season. The team has only lost three girls from last year's 13-22 team. However, the classes are uneven.

Bartlesville has two seniors, seven juniors, three sophomores and five freshman. The two seniors are Taylor Garrett and Hayley Hines. Hampton talks about the two seniors.

It won't be easy for Bartlesville again this year. The redistricting stuck the Lady Bruins with five teams that were in the top three of their respective districts last year. Owasso, Broken Arrow, Muskogee, Union and Stillwater were all top three district teams last year. Claremoore and Booker T. Washington are the other teams in the district. Hampton explains.
